” I hate exercise but I love boxing”, that is what one of my personal training clients exclaimed with a big smile on her face. Many of my personal training clients have expressed the same sentiment. Why is boxing so much fun? Well, for one thing, it’s a tremendous release of tension and stress which is so abundant in NYC. In today’s fast paced society we need to relax and unwind and what better way to do it than with a little fitness boxing? Throw a few punches at some target mitts. Pretend those mitts are your boss, enemy or someone who jilted you? Oh, and did I mention that it’s empowering? You’ll feel like you can take on the town bully. Kick his bu&%! Now I wouldn’t go testing this theory, but people do feel empowered putting on some boxing gloves, taking a lesson, then how should I say it, go nuts!
Did I mention that boxing is good for your health? – Cardiovascular health, coordination, balance, muscle tone and strength. Fitness boxing is also a great way to lose weight and it’s FUN! For many people it takes their mind off the fact that their exercising, which may not be fun. So if you haven’t tried boxing for fitness (not in the ring) give it a whirl. You might just find you have a new hobby for life.
